Description

The ONE 9 is a SSS (Single Speed Specific) DS (Disc Only) Niner made from EASTON™ GX2 Scandium tubing custom drawn for Niner bikes. We went to Easton right out of the starting gate. Our goal was to make the lightest, fastest, smoothest riding frame we could make and we knew Easton had the technology in their Scandium tubesets to make it happen. We also knew our needs would be very specific, and we worked side by side with Easton engineers to make the best possible tubeset for the job. Each frame size boasts a unique internal wall thickness and butting location to make the ride quality perfect across the board. XL frames obviously have different weight and torque demands than a small frame, and every piece of tubing was designed for the specific size in need.

Everything about this frame was made from scratch including the minimalist 110 gram EBB and the custom single speed specific vertical drop outs. Weight was gouged out of every crevice. Both the head tube and the bottom bracket shell have been internally butted for maximum weight savings and every tube on the frame has been custom drawn and butted to create the lightest frame without compromising strength or stiffness. Weight was an issue when designing the ONE 9, but from the starting gate, ride quality always came first. Could we have made the ONE 9 even lighter? Probably. Would it have the stiffness at the bottom bracket to handle those brutal single speed out of the saddle power mashes that happen so frequently? No.

To finish things off, the One 9 gets very special treatment before being shipped to any rider. The head tube is designed to uphold Chris King’s super stringent tolerances, and is reamed and faced for proper head set alignment. The BB shell is also reamed to insure proper roundness for the CNC machined EBB. The disc tabs are machined to perfect alignment post heat treatment to insure proper brake caliper positioning, and the EBB has perfectly smooth BB threads for easy, no fuss BB installation. Right out of the box, the Niner frame is ready to be built and ridden.
