Yes we’ve
heard, STEEL IS REAL! We’re on it. Niner introduces the multipurpose
s.i.r. 9, a Reynolds 853 frame that can be run as a single speed using
Niner’s own super light EBB, or a speeded bike with a replaceable
derailleur hanger. Once again, Niner’s attention to detail can
be seen on every aspect of this frame, from the custom made “Breezer”
style drop outs that accommodate both a derailleur hanger or a single
speed insert for a perfectly clean look, to the custom butted and
built Reynolds 853 main triangle with size specific tubing, to the
clean welds, 110 gram EBB, custom drawn S-bend chainstays and seatstays,
stainless steel head badge, and finally the finished off quality of
a reamed and faced head tube, seat tube and EBB shell, the s.i.r.
9 is the perfect do everything cross country Niner machine. The s.i.r.
9 has also received the proven Niner philosophy of geometry.
It’s no secret that Reynolds 853 is still the leading tubeset
of the die hard steel world, so when we started designing the s.i.r.
9, we went directly to Reynolds UK and worked with them closely to
make sure the tubesets we used for the s.i.r. 9 were perfect in every
way. The small and medium have a smaller top tube and down tube, while
the large and extra large have larger diameter top and down tubes
for the added load of the larger riders. In addition, the tubesets
were custom drawn and butted for the added length needed in these
tubsets. Every tube was hand picked, prototyped and tested in both
real world conditions and the brutal, run it till it breaks, laboratory.
No stone was left unturned. We took what we’ve learned through
the development of the One 9 and applied it to the s.i.r. 9, and we
hope the effort shows.
